Studies have shown that multitasking actually decreases productivity, because it takes extra minutes to get back into the groove when you switch from one task to the next. Instead, it’s better to tackle one task first and complete it before moving onto something else. You’ll find that you can get things done faster in this way, and you’ll notice a boost in the quality of your work. This can help improve your overall morale, so you’ll feel better about your job.

Eliminate Distractions

People don’t realize just how many distractions surround them in the workplace and this leads to decreased productivity. When you have dozens of distractions interrupting you, it can take three times longer to complete a task you should have completed within just a few minutes. Before you begin a task, set your phone to silent, close any tabs that are open to your email account on your computer, and look for ways to minimize other interruptions. Once you complete the task, you can check your messages and phone.

By getting more done in a shorter amount of time, you’ll create a more flexible schedule for yourself.
